Thunderbolt (1) TO USB or USB C

I have an older Hard drive that uses Thunderbolt (the original one) to connect to the computer. I just got a new Macbook, and of course those only have USB-C ports. I also have a USB converter/extender for non-USB C devices.

How can I use my hard drive on this new macbook?

You will need to use a USB-C Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
