Sound input/output options disappearing on M1 Macbook Air, Big Sur

I have the same issue identified in this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252935393

I am running the latest version of Big Sur. The problem manifests like this:

Upon boot (or reboot), I can use my audio devices without a problem. However, after I use Zoom, Google Meet in Chrome or MS Teams (any of them), my system shows up with NO available audio devices. That is: if I open System Preferences, go to Sound, there are no devices showing up. If I reboot, the devices are there.

My next move is to do a factory reset, but before I go nuclear... any ideas?

I can confirm that the fix listed here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253084030?page=1 generally worked for me.

The offending app in my case was "Solstice Conference Camera." It kept showing up as an available camera in Zoom, etc., despite the fact that I had uninstalled the Mersive application that allows for screen sharing etc. in shared conference rooms. I had uninstalled, stopped processes, you name it, but it was still showing up. I finally removed a plugin called RelayCam.plugin and that appears to have fixed the issue.

I found the file here: /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL
