Apple TV+ is compatible with Apple TV (3rd generation or later).

If a user in your family has an offer for a free extended trial, then he should redeem that offer first on his new eligible Apple device. Once he has the subscription active, then that would also be available on other devices with the Apple TV app, when signed in with the same account.
