Apple Watch time not correct

The time on the Apple Watch only updates when I raise my wrist to wake the screen. When the screen is darkened - but still displaying the time - the time is not correct. It then jumps forward to the correct time when the screen is awake. This has happened since the latest iOS update. I have a series 5.

Oh really?! Sorry I didn't understand. That seems totally bonkers to me, because what is the point of displaying the time on the dimmed screen if it's not correct?! How annoying. I often like to check the time without waking the screen.

I guess I'll just have to hope that they realise this isn't a great feature and will fix it in an upcoming update.

Thanks for the help.
