what is com.malwarebytes.HelperTool?

Is Malwarebytes really necessary for my mac to run without worry of malicious software invading my OS?

My MacBook is older I run Sierra V10.12.6

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.12

And No - one does not need to have Malwarebytes running all the time.
