iOS 15 CarPlay crashes in 2020 Chevy Bolt

Just took delivery on my iPhone 13 mini running iOS 15.0.1.

Drove our 2020 Bolt yesterday for first time since getting the phone. Connected to the vehicle using CarPlay (cabled) in order to use navigation to our destination. Was playing music, too. CarPlay would work for several minutes then the console screen would freeze and then reset. Reconnecting CarPlay would repeat that same behavior. Leaving CarPlay disconnected allowed the car’s native entertainment system to work fine.

I’ve seen a few other perhaps-related posts with some suggestions (short of Reset ALL Settings). Atmos is set to “auto”; EQ is set “off”. I note that the settings reset possible solution has not worked for everyone, so I’m a bit reluctant to spend that time on a speculative fix.

Edit: I should note that my wife’s XR, running 14.8, works Just Fine with CarPlay in this vehicle.

What is the issue here and what is the solution?

15.0.2 seems to fix this.
