Iphone Backups in Catalina 10.15.7

I recently upgraded to Catalina on my Mac.

I am running 10.15.7.

I just backed up my iphone running iOS 14.something.

I then upgraded to iOS15.0.1.

I then backed up the phone again, once updated to iOS 15.0.1.

I wanted to look back a previous backups and noticed that the iOS 14.something backup was not showing up in the manage backups window.

Only the latest backup is shown.

I have not archived any backups.

Where are all the other backups?

It seems Catalina is overwriting the backup for a specific device!

Can you please advise on this?

The new backup replaces the old backup.

The old backups are not saved unless you archive them..

Finder>Go>Go To Library, copy & paste:

~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

I had that same issue which is partly solved with the answer above. The question I still have is: where are the archived backups then? Will they also end up in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and just stay there and get a "marker" to not be overwritten?

I'd really like to know so I can make sure I still have access to my previous backup - just in case.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
