Touch ID Stopped Working

All of the options in Touch ID under System Preferences are grayed out. I feel like there was an update I recently installed, but I am uncertain. Touch was working, then it just stopped. I can not even use touch to login.

There are a few instances where Touch ID will not be accepted by macOS:

• If you restarted your Mac, or if you're not logged into your user account.

• If you have not unlocked your Mac for 48 hours.

• If you are trying to unlock Security & Privacy

• If you are trying to unlock Users & Groups Preferences (when FileVault is on)

• If 5 wrong fingerprints attempts

iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021)

The fingerprint was working perfectly to unlock my Mac, switch user, and to access websites. Then it just stopped.

I followed a recommendation to delete my current fingerprint and restart and re-add my fingerprint. Now that I have done that "Touch ID" is no longer present in "System Preferences." This has occurred since installing MacOS 11.6 a few days ago.

Okay, so I can't explain it; but Touch ID has shown back up in System Preferences and I was able to add my fingerprint. I can now do all functions with Touch ID. I did charge my keyboard (from 86% to 100%), remove and add the keyboard in bluetooth settings...and maybe some other random things like browsing the App Store. I also played Sim City 4 for a few minutes.
