Why does MacBook Pro OS Big Sur 11.6 have problems with printing on Epson Workforce 545 printer?

Both computers refuse to print. My old MacBook Pro Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 and my new laptop MacBook Pro OS Big Sur 11.6.

The printer is fine and worked a couple of months ago on the old laptop. I just got a new Mac, I thought it would be so great. So far I am having issues with multiple displays - it is still not possible to do it with this Mac even with Pluggable.

But the bigger issue is with printing on a simple Printer. I tried updating both laptops with drivers. deleting a printer, adding as a second, to no avail.

I get messages that

the computer is:

Unable to verify the printer on the network. Unable to connect to Epson WorkForce 545... local due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?

When I said yes, another error:

An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time.

Does anyone have similar issues and has resolved them successfully? Please advise

Printers/scanners are typically the first causality in upgrading any OS.

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer in

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again, select AirPrint.
