Everything was backed up except for my photos

I got a new phone but before I erased all my data on it, I backed it up on iCloud. So when I went to restore my phone with the iCloud backup, everything went back on my phone expect my photos. So how do I get my photos back on my phone from the backup?

Hello forestsaregreen,

We see you have an issue with restoring photos onto your new iPhone, and we'd be happy to help.

With the Photos app, there'll be an important distinction for backing up and restoring. If the iCloud Photos feature was enabled at the time of the backup, then the photos will not be stored within an iCloud backup, but should sync to the device if you've signed into the device and re-enabled iCloud Photos in Settings.

You can check if iCloud Photos is currently on in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos. If this is on, be sure to keep your iPhone connected to power and a strong Wi-Fi connection, which should allow them to proceed with restoring.

You can also double-check if the Photos are being synced by logging into the iCloud site here, and select the Photos app there: iCloud.com

This page can also help with missing content after restoring the backup: About missing information after you restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iCloud Backup

For example, it can help show where to look to see if the backup is still restoring, even if it seems complete.

Cheers.
