imovie

iMovie keeps zooming in on all my photos and is chopping everything off. How do I adjust the photos so they do not zoom in? I see no buttons on iMovie to adapt the size of the photos. Some of the photos are also turned sideways.

iPad, iOS 10

The zooming is happening because you have the Ken Burns feature activated. To get rid of the unwanted zoom, go to iMovie/Preferences in the iMovie main menu, and select "Fit" in the Photo Placement box.

The preferences setting will apply to all projects commenced after you set the preference.

For projects previously commenced, you can click on the zoomed clip in the timeline, and then click on the crop button (the one that looks like intersecting angles) in the tool box at the upper right hand of your screen. When the crop controls appear, change the setting from Ken Burns to Fit. To apply the change to all of the other zoomed clips that may be in the project, select your changed clip and do Edit/Copy. Then select the other zoomed clips that are contiguous to each other and do Edit/Paste Adjustments/Crop. Or, you can just change them one by one as originally mentioned above.
