I have a mac which is mid 2010 and I have just upgraded the os to High Sierra 10.13 and some of my programs won't work with anything below the OS of 10.14 what are my options? can I upgrade the MacOS more?

Unfortunately your 2010 iMac cannot run any macOS newer than 10.13.6 High Sierra. There is no further upgrade path for that machine.

The only way forward is to buy a new/newer Mac.
