Flickering lines on my MacBook Pro

I have columns of flickering horizontal lines on my screen. There are 6 columns, the lines are top to bottom in the columns, and they are mostly purple or light purple with some light blue lines interspersed.

Does this mean my monitor is failing

Not necessarily failing.

Any banding on a display can be the result of a frayed cable between the monitor and the logicboard or the graphics chip on the logicboard. The latter would be visible if you hooked up an external display.

AppleCare+ and https://support.apple.com/service-programs can help if you are covered under either plan.
