Can’t Connect Between Iphone and Watch

My iphone is 12, and my watch is 3rd series. Does it still connect? I can’t connect it, because it said I must update the ios, but the ios in my watch is up to date.

If you want WatchOS8 then your phone must be running ios15 or higher.
