Can't use USB super-drive on MacBook Pro

I have an apple usb super-drive that I want to use with Mac book pro. I am trying to get it to work but cannot. Am I doing something wrong?

The 16" model is an all USB-C unit. Those don't typically provide enough power for the Superdrive. You'll need a USB-C passthrough adapter such as:
