iMac will NOT connect to internet

My iMac will not connect to the internet that it has used for several months. All other devices in same room are connected. Have tried to turn it on…acts like I don’t have admin authority, which I do. Anyone else experiencing similar and how do/did you fix it?

Please start by using Apple's suggestions in Troubleshoot connecting your Mac to the internet - Apple Support.

Of course do not forget the very basics:

  1. Restart modem, unplug from power for 2-3 minutes and then re-plug in. (Yes even if EVERY else is working okay)
  2. Restart router, unplug from power for 2-3 minutes and then re-plug in.
  3. Restart iMac and retest
