can not download apps due to required update however no update available

I currently own a OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6 iMac and require an OS X version 10.14 update to download apps. When going onto the app store, it states there is no updated available

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

Mojave requires a 2012 or later iMac. If you have one see: How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support


If not, you would have to replace your iMac with a newer one.
