Battery discharges fast

You’re asking the community to guess - without any information about your iPad model, the installed version of iOS/iPadOS, or the circumstances of your difficulties.

If the behaviour that you observe is occurring after a system software update, as a first step, a forced restart may be helpful - as doing so may clear and stalled or misbehaving background processes:

• On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
• On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Since you offer no details, I will guess that you have just updated and your battery is working overtime to complete the update. If that is the case, give it a few days. If that is not the case, please give us more detail such as model, OS version, etc.
