Does anyone know or can confirm if it is safe to use a previous generation 96w usb-c adapter with the magsafe cable for the new MacBook's? Will it still get fast charging? I know these laptops just came out but I usually keep a charger at home and one on the go and the new 140w adapter won't be available until next month.

It is Safe to use the 96W and 94W, but they cannot provide Fast Charging.
Use of a smaller power adapter than those should only be attempted in an emergency, and then only to re-charge when your computer is nominally OFF.
