M1 Macbook Pro External Display support

Can someone clarify is connecting an ipad via sidecar to a new macbookpro counts as one of the "external displays" that you are able to connect to (M1 Pro - 2 displays, M1 Max - 4 Displays)?

The limit on number of displays is actually a limit on the number of directly-connected, fully-accelerated displays using a Hardware rasterizer.

Since the sidecar display is not using hardware rasterizer, it does not count as one of your external displays. Note: it is also not a fully-accelerated displays and can not be used for Video editing or gaming or similar hardware-intensive tasks, because it is not updating as fast as a "real" display.
