You can easily reset your iPad settings without deleting data. The reset applies to all user settings - not just your display:

iPadOS 14 and earlier

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

iPadOS 15

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings
