What to Do:

Turn on two-factor authentication on your Devices. You will receive the code.

1. Go Here: Two-Factor Authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support
2. Scroll to: Set up two-factor authentication for your Apple ID
3. Proceed from there ac necessary

I'm not sure what "verification code" it is asking for, but normally when you download something from the App or iTunes Store it asks for your Apple ID password. Then once you install it there may be a separate code the App developer will ask for depending on whether it is a free, purchase, or subscription.
