iPad to macbook Bluetooth pairing unsuccessful

My MacBook Pro and iPad will not pair Bluetooth. Yes they are discoverable, yes they are next to each other. Once they show up as devices for each other and I click to pair with the pairing code. On the iPad only, a notification of; "connection unsuccessful "MacBook name" is not supported". They are both up to date, they are both on the same wifi network.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I am trying to Bluetooth them to each other so I can screen share and use one as a monitor for the other.
