Does the std iPad $329 from sept 2021 work with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil? It is not listed for compatibility on the Apple website…

Direct answer? No.
All base mode/budget iPad models, like the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th gen iPads ALL use the original, 1st gen Pencil with the chrome/silver/metal-ised top cap with protective Apple Lightning connector magnetic cap/cover.
I don't know why anyone else,here, never just spells out the exact Pencil version needed witb what user iPad.
