how to connect two iMacs together

I am trying to connect an older iMac (late 2012 10.13.6 to my newer iMac 2020 12.0.1. I have purchased a thunderbolt cable, thunderbolt 3 to a thunderbolt 2 adapter to connect the two iMacs.

I have also a Cintiq 16 display connected to the 2020 iMac.

I have tried to add a display but is not showing up to select the older iMac.

Please advise steps to use the cintiq and older iMac.

thank you

Cindy

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Unfortunately, you cannot use your 2012 iMac as a display for your new iMac.
