After updating OS to 12.0.1, the ribbon icons in Word turned to open circles. I deleted pref files and reinstalled Office 365. Subsequently when I first opened Word the default icons were visible in the ribbon, but after customizing they all turned to open circles.
Thoughts? thanks

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN
all known to cause issues on the macOS
Contact a third party vendor
