Is “ appleid@id.apple.com” an authentic Apple email address ?

I received an email from “appleid@id.apple.com”

with the subject “Your Apple ID password has been reset” but I didn’t initiate any password reset yesterday.

Also my iCloud storage plan has suddenly changed from 2T to 5GB, so I would like to know first whether this email is authentic.

The email is :

”Dear Germain,

The password for your Apple ID, ***@gmail.com, has been successfully reset.

If you did not make this change or you believe an unauthorised person has accessed your account, you should go to iforgot.apple.com to reset your password immediately. Then sign into your Apple IDaccount page at https://appleid.apple.comto review and update your security settings.

If you need additional help, please contact Apple Support.

Sincerely,

Apple Support”

Thanks with kind regards.

You can reset your password just in case. Make sure any links you see really go to where they claim to go. There's a lot of scams out there - see link below). Scams (e-mail, text messages, and phone calls) are getting very good at closely imitating true Apple communications. Always be cautious. Here are some guidelines:

Identifying legitimate emails from the iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/HT201679

Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - https://support.apple.com/HT204759

If you are uncertain about a message and a resource provided in that message, do not click on any links in the message. Try to independently verify the resource by going to a support page on apple.com and use that to contact Apple or to use the service the message is telling you to use.
