How can I force rotate apps on iPad

How can I force rotate apps on iPad? I did switch off the hold on rotation already on the iPad system, but there are still some apps that won’t rotate the way I am using the iPad.

iPad Air, iPadOS 15

If screen rotation proves to be problem with some Apps - and not others - you need to be aware that not all Apps are coded to operate in both Portrait and Landscape screen modes. Apps that have a fixed screen orientation will always* appear in the orientation determined by the App Developer.

(*) For compatible Apps that are intended for iPhone, iPadOS15 will now automatically rotate the App to display in Landscape screen orientation. There is no manual configuration or setting to enable this feature.

However, Apps designed for iPad that are expressly coded to force Portrait screen orientation, iPadOS15 will honour the intended Portrait mode. iPadOS15 will not override the App coding.

Hello Yungpark,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities!

We understand that certain apps won't rotate the way you want them to when using your iPad.

We see you started using Rotate the screen on your iPad - Apple Support to help resolve the issue.

Under the 'Check the app that you’re using' section, we find: "Remember that not all apps support rotation. If some apps on your iPad rotate as expected and others don't rotate, the ones that don't were built that way by their developers."

Have you contacted the app developer to see if this is expected behavior?

Do you have any pending updates for your iOS or apps?

We hope this helps you get to the bottom of the issue.

Cheers!
