Floating Keyboard malfunction?

I just got the iPad Pro and pencil 2nd gen. The floating keyboard doesn't respond to the finger gesture that returns to the full size keyboard nor does pulling it to the bottom of the screen. Thoughts?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm aware of and have tried the two finger zoom gesture but it doesn't work. Never has.

To easily return the new Floating Keyboard to the normal on-screen keyboard presentation, use the two-finger “zoom” gesture (i.e., the reverse of the two-finger “pinch”).

If the Split Keyboard is restored instead of the full on-screen keyboard, you can either use two fingers (one on each of the two half-keyboards) and swipe the two halves together - or touch-and-hold the “keyboard” key, then slide your finger to the Merge & Dock option and release.

Whilst not doubting your report, I can only suggest that you carefully re-read the linked information - as the gestures are reliable.

If you continue to have difficulties, try a forced-restart of your iPad - as doing so will often resolve an isolated software glitch:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If this still does not resolve your issue, you should seek assistance directly from Apple Support - using either the Get Support link at top-right of this page, or the excellent Apple Support App:
