My 6th gen iPad screen just cracked while sitting on my table. Never dropped. Hardly ever moved. Not subject to heat or cold. I was listening to radio on iPad and got up to notice it had completely cracked while just sitting there. Anyone have this happen? Not willing to pay 299 to replace. This is really odd!!

Does the case show any possible swelling, like the battery could be swelling and causing the screen to crack? Otherwise, I would not have any idea what or why it happened. Only Apple can examine the device and make any kind of decisions.
Make a Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple Store and explain what happened. They will explain your options.

If the warranty is still active, don’t hesitate to take it to an Apple retail store for repair.

You're welcome. If you intend to keep the device, you may wish to check to see if the battery is swelling, because if it is, you will want to get rid of it. Apple can recycle the device if you wish.
