How to remove apps from Monterey Launchpad

After Monterey install I have a lot of apps in the launchpad with the circle/slash symbol. When clicked on the icon I get the message, "The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information." How do I delete those items that are no longer supported? Hold click or option key gets a jiggle but no "X" and drag to Trash does nothing. I don't see them in the Application folder either.

These apps which will not launch in Monterey, and are represented in Launchpad with the icon you describe, may be in a folder within your Applications folder. If you can't find them use Spotlight to locate them - then delete them.
