Can you use a generation 2 remote with a generation 1 Apple TV

I like the generation 2 Apple TV remote so much better than the generation 1 remote. It is much easier to navigate with. Can I use a gen 2 remote with a gen 1 Apple TV? Or are there other options to use?

yes, assuming you mean appletv 4k 1g and 2g then

it list compatible appletv versions on their page
