Hi,

Updating the trusted phone number associated to your Apple ID varies on if you currently have access to your Apple ID or not.

You have access:

  • Device settings > name > password & security > trusted phone number > edit > enter the new phone number.

Note: You will also want to confirm the new phone number is associated to your Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime in Settings > Name > Name, Phone Numbers, and Email > Reachable At

No access:

  • you will need to start account recovery for your Apple ID online at https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid by entering your Apple ID and confirming the trusted phone number tied to the account. You do not need to have access to the number, only confirm it.
  • once confirming the number, it will attempt to send a verification code to that number. Select ‘Can’t Use This Number/‘No Access to this Number’ and enter your current phone number, as well as the verification code that follows. You will be able to complete the recovery from here to regain access to your Apple ID.
  • If you cannot confirm the phone number, you cannot regain access to the Apple ID and start account recovery.
