Text suggestion boxes in Safari and elsewhere

When I'm typing in a text-box (like this one in Safari), little boxes keep jumping out with suggestions (a little rectangle box with the word in it, plus a curved section with an 'x' on the right).

I'd like to turn these off completely, but I can't see how to do it. I notice it mainly in Safari, though it happens in other programs as well.

Thanks.

Hello SyncOverSea,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about the auto-correction on your Mac.

This article covers how to adjust the automatically spelling and grammar features: Check spelling and grammar on Mac

Hopefully that helps address your situation.

Take care.
