Monterey 12.0.1 OR stay with Catalina 10.15.3? - Update for MacBookAir 2017

Monterey 12.0.1 is recommended for MacBook PRO, but my hardware is MacBookAir 2017, will Monterey have any positive effects on my experience, OR will it just make it SLOW? Should I update to Monterey or just ignore the update and proceed with Catalina 10.15.3.

Thank you for tried out solutions.

Do what you're comfortable with, but I can say that I've upgraded our 2015 MacBook Air to Monterey and it is running very nicely indeed. The model we have is the oldest one that can support Monterey, and it may support the next MacOS, but by upgrading it as far as it can go will give it a longer period of usefulness, security and updates.

As you have a 2017 model you have a few more years of it supporting the current MacOS.
