Trying to use my Apple ID balance to put money toward iPhone purchase. Can’t figure out after adding money to balance how to put it towards my purchase? When I use my Apple Pay for iPhone it has full price

Just to confirm you do want to use your Apple ID balance to make a purchase for a phone?!
Visit https://www.apple.com/iphone/
Tap on the Account bag on the top right of the screen
Sign In
Choose your device you want to purchase
When you go to checkout, you should see an option on the left side that say pay with Apple ID balance or redeem code
