My 2021 Macbook air: Time machine was backing up yesterday and last night I closed the lid and this morning I checked and there were no backups. I click on backup now and it says time machine cannot find backup disk. Mac OS is Monterey. Backup disk is a WD Easy Store.

Closing the lid shut it down and may have caused an issue. You may have to reformat and start your TM backup over.

Time Machine with M1/Monterey causing serious problems.
I think closing the lid was the cause. Backed up all last night ok with lid open.
