Child safety for app purchases

Child safety for app purchases… I purchased a 299 add on for my child on a game, afterwords I noticed money was being taken out of my account from Apple account somewhere… Currently I just found out through Being on my child’s iPad that he has been purchasing numerous items from the game up to $40 on one purchase… How do I stop this from happening? I did start the procedure of getting my money back… But I don’t want this buying spree to continue. Thank you for your technical help and support
