I was signed out of my apple Id across all devices, after recovering my account my iMessage is not synced to my mac from my iPhone, so my mac is not receiving any messages or notifications that my iPhone would. I made sure the apple ID was the same on both devices and even changed the imessage email on the mac to the main email linked to my iPhone.

Use Messages in iCloud and on the iPhone >> Setting >> Messages and Enable " Text Forwarding " and still in there make sure the Apple Computer is listed and available and Enable the Apple Computer by its' name ie: My MBP or whatever name it is called.
