So I got an iMac and it says enter administrator password

How do I enter a administrator password I don’t know?

If it is a new iMac, you would be asked to set it up using your personal user ID and Password.


If it is a used iMac, then the previous owner or seller did not properly prepare it for resale.

At this point you need to follow the erase your Mac and reinstall macOS steps in section 8 of the previous article.


If you can not erase, reinstall macOS and set it up using your personally ID and Password, then you need to return it to the seller and get your money back.
