How do I change the App store automatic ID

When I go to log in to the Apple Store, the app automatically gives me my wife's log in ID. Even when I use her password, I cannot download the Safari updates that I need for my computer.

How do I alter that automatic ID to make it mine? I have checked the system preferences and it shows my own ID for the Apple Store but this does not come up when I activate the app.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

If the Apps were originally downloaded with one Apple ID, then they will always be tied to it and require it to update. There is no way to change this short of wiping the computer and setting it up again with your Apple ID.

The Operating system and associated Apps like Safari also get tied to the Apple ID.
