OS X El Capitan (2011 macbook pro) needs to be updated to new version

I need to update my 2011 macbook pro from OS X El Capitan to the newest version but whenever I go to see if a new update is available nothing appears. I'm unable to watch Netflix, Disney +, use the Cricut application, etc. Can anyone direct me on what I need to do?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on High Sierra. That Mac isn't capable of Mojave or above.

To check the programs, click here and look them up.
