USB C to USB cable

I have just bought a new iPad Air which has a usb c to usb c charging cable supplied. All my other devices have lightening to usb connectors. I understand I can buy a usb c to usb cable. I was planning on doing this as all my plugs are usb based ! I would rather buy this type of cable than an adaptor. Will the usb c to usb work ok, or will I lose any performance? Thanks in advance.

Your new iPad Air was supplied with a USB-C Power Adapter - and a USB-C to USB-C charging/data cable.

If your PC has older USB Type-A ports, you will require a certified USB3 Type-A to USB-C cable. These are readily available from good computer hardware stores - and from Apple.

Here is one example from mophie, marketed by Apple:

  • mophie USB-A Cable with USB-C Connector (1 m)
