macbook shutting down on sleep

I recently purchased a 2021 14-inch Macbook Pro Model running Monterey 12.0.1. When the macbook goes to sleep for about 30 minutes or longer, it shuts down completely, which is not desired behavior. How do I stop this from happening?

Update your macOS to the current stable release macOS 12.1— for known issues.

My system preferences is telling me "Your Mac is up to date -- macOS Monterey 12.0.1"

Monterey 12.1, a major update to macOS. The update is 2.36GB

Try starting the update using the Terminal.app  this will bypass the secure token/owner check from the Software Update pref pane:

sudo softwareupdate -i -a -R

-i Install

-a All appropriate updates

-R Automatically restart (or shut down) if required to complete installation)
