2FA with Yubikey

How do we set up our devices and Apple ID accounts to use Yubikeys as our 2FA?

Apple two-factor authentication uses Apple trusted devices and trusted phone numbers. It does not use 3rd party devices like YubiKey. See: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support


You can apparently (I haven't tried it) use it to log into a Mac -- see: https://www.yubico.com/works-with-yubikey/catalog/macos/
