Connecting an old Samsung monitor to a MacBook as a second monitor

I have a relatively old Samsung monitor. The model of this monitor is Syncmaster S19A310N plus. I want to connect this monitor to the "MacBook Pro M1" as a second monitor. I once tried to connect it to a MacBook using the "VGA to HDMI converter YZ-1803", but the monitor did not show anything. (Monitor port is VGA). Please advise a way for me to do this.
