have Mac DT runnin El Capitan version 10.11.6. Tried to install Microsoft 365 for Word, Excel, etc.. Info said to uninstall my old version of MS Office, which I did. When trying to install the new MS Offic 365, said c ould not install on old ver. Mac

Currently, Microsoft requires macOS Catalina (10.15.7) or later to install Microsoft 365, or either of Office 2019 for Mac, or Office 2021 for Mac. Additionally, Microsoft has disabled their unsupported products (Office 2011 for Mac, etc.) license servers so reinstalling Office 2011 for Mac on El Capitan may fail, or fail to accept its license code.
