Question

can't hear mail app notification sound when i send and receive mail

Not hearing alert sound in my mail app. Check out my link that will better explain my problem.

Yes it is and thank you for following up.

Must admit, still using an Ancient Mac Mini circa 2011 and best it can do in High Sierra. Have a similar issue in Apple Mail application from time to time.

Sometimes in Activity Monitor >> View >>> View All processes and look for " Coreaudiod " process and Force Quit the process will bring back the Sounds of Incoming and Outgoing Sounds in Apple Mall

It is a temporary workaround and not a permanent solution.

this is on my older Mac. It’s on my 2012 computer Mac OS and I’m running high sierra. As simply as I can write this no issues with emails coming in and being sent I don’t hear any sounds when it’s sent like the swoosh sound. Is this more clear?

That was actually a pretty good suggestion but it didn't fix it. This computer is pretty out of date from 2012)

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012. I own 2 computers and use both. Its amazing how long the older computers last.

Its honestly not that big a deal. I can still send an receive emails and everything comes though. I am just rather curious what causes this issue to happen and why it happened with no sound. I wonder if its a hardware issue or a bug with the mail app itself because the sound works on my other mac and all the settings are correct in my notifications and in general. i appreciate your time and u getting in touch with me

As for solution - High Sierra is pretty old and if this machine is from 2012 - pretty sure it has gone through several upGrading along the way. From Original version of OS X to High Sierra macOS 10.13.

The Accumulated upGrades have left their mark on the OS side of things. Unfortunately, the net affect is the oddity of Swoosh or Bing sounds ( lack there of ) .
