Sound output to DAC

Mac Mini (M1 2020) OS Monterey. I am using a USB output from Mac mini to a ZEN DAC v2. Great sound but occasionally sound will drop out. I can still see the DAC in Audio MIDI setup still set to default but no output? If i switch to Mac's speaker or screen speakers there is sound output. If I restart the mini, sound is recovered and output to the DAC is restored? The issue is spasmodic, happening maybe once a week. This did not happen with a previous DAC. Has anyone had similar issues and is there a solution?

Does it happen with all content? My DAC works perfectly with Apple Music, FT, Skype etc. (mic is separated).

Thanks for replying. It appears that it happens over all content, Youtube, Tidal etc. There does not appear to be a commonality but happens accross the piste?

Have you tried a different port? Do the sound drops occur in the middle of the audio stream or when when listening after an interval when there’s nothing being output right from the start?
