Hi,

Printing via cable is not supported. Instead, you would wirelessly connect an iPad to the same network as the printer. The printer must be an AirPrint-enabled model.

The printer could be wirelessly connected to the Wi-Fi router, or (if applicable) wired by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports.

Use AirPrint to print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If necessary, you could use a small/portable "travel router" (there are models with or without mobile broadband capabilities) in order to create a local Wi-Fi network.

If the printer does not support AirPrint, a special app for iPad may or may not be available from the printer manufacturer. Any information about the exact HP laser printer model?
